Our first lesson is here! 😊
The goal of our first session was to introduce the world of blogging, explore how it works and discover the many possibilities it offers. We started by discussing when and how blogging can be used.
Alongside the essential tools, with WordPress at the centre of our discussion, we explored Canva as an excellent tool for creating visuals for blogs and social media, and much more. We also introduced Pixlr, a powerful and interesting online tool that we used to resize and optimise photographs.
Photographs play an important role in blogging. For this purpose, we used Unsplash, and we will continue exploring additional tools throughout the programme.
We also looked at several websites as examples, including Websites Workshop, Škola web dizajna, Dnevnik jednog programera and Webcon. These are just some of the websites that feature blogs alongside other content.
Beyond personal websites, we discussed other blogging examples, including Andrijana Cotić, ISP Lančari putovanje, Miloš Zubac and Novosadska ženska inicijativa.
To put theory into practice, we created two blog posts. The first was published on Obiljus, a presentation website for a training centre in Belgrade. The second was created here, on the IT Komuna website.
We began by working with existing websites. Starting with the next lesson, we will build everything from scratch, learning how to install WordPress on a local computer and develop a website step by step.
Of course, this was only an introductory lesson. There is much more to discuss, and we will continue sharing interesting blogs, bloggers and practical examples.
